New Chimpanzee Habitat

When Sunset Zoo received accreditation from the AZA, one of the improvements the national organization of zoos called for was a new indoor/outdoor habitat for chimpanzees. The existing habitat was indoors and did not allow the primates to play outside. A new indoor/outdoor habitat for chimpanzees and Colobus monkeys was built in 1997 and the Ballard family, who were trust members, contributed to the project.
